More About Physiotherapy
A physiotherapist is a medically trained health professional who must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) in order to use the protected name ‘Physiotherapist’ (physiotherapy, physio, physical therapist).
Physiotherapists are highly trained health practitioners who are trained in medical assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries. Anyone at any age and any fitness level can book an appointment for an assessment with me.
During your appointment we will work together to complete a whole process known as SOAP, which is:
Subjective Assessment: Where we discuss the contents of your injury, for example how, why, what, when and where it happened.
Objective Assessment. Here I use the information gathered during our subjective assessment to assess the injured area. This may include moving areas of the body to assess the damaged structure.
Action: The information we gather together in our Subjective and Objective assessments will help to create a diagnosis. This will then determine the type of treatment choices that will be offered in the clinic, as well as management of your injury outside of the clinic.
Plan: This part of the treatment process is determined by the information found in the subjective and objective assessment. A huge part of the plan is how we work together the manage your injury and what is the next step we can take.
Suspected Diagnosis: collectively gathering all information provided during our Subjective and Objective assessment will give the information needed for a suspected diagnosis of your injury.
The points covered in this assessment will help us to reduce/minimise your pain, increase your joint mobility, promote your strength/functionality and create a steady and progressive programme which will allow you to return to sport normal daily living.
